Getting There

To get to Liguria you could either travel by car, train, boat or airplane. The most direct and fastest way to travel is by plane. The Christopher Columbus International airport in Genoa handles a lot of flights daily from the different cities of Italy and other European nations. The airport is only 6 kilometers away from the town center so after landing in the airport you could immediately tour the city of Genoa.
Since Genoa is the birthplace of Christopher Columbus you may want to reach it by boat. The port of Genoa is still an important port in the Mediterranean area. Lots of cruise ships dock in this port coming from Europe and Asia so check out with your travel agent for possible cruise ships that may dock in Genoa.
The railways of Liguria are connected to the main international routes from Nice, Germany, Austria, Gothard, former Yugoslavia, and Mont Cenis. Travelers coming from Italy could reach Liguria from Turin on the Savona-Genoa route, Milan on the Genoa route and from Parma on the La Spezia route.
If you want to travel by car then Liguria can be reached from France via the A10 highway, from Milan using the old A7 highway and from Rome using the A10 highway. The advantage of traveling by car is that you would enjoy the scenery along the way since you will be driving at your own pace.
